White Ash does not perform as well under urban conditions as Green Ash, and appears to be in decline throughout its range as a result of Ash Yellows disease and the exotic Emerald Ash Borer insect. Ash wood is used to make baseball bats and tool handles. The species is dioecious: only female trees produce fruits (samaras).
