Phellodendron amurensis

Native to eastern Asia, the Amur Cork Tree has a picturesque, wide-spreading crown. Its bark serves as one of the 50 fundamental herbs in traditional Chinese medicine, and the Ainu people used it as a painkiller. Tolerant to urban conditions, the Amur Cork Tree is considered an invasive species in parts of North America, including Connecticut.
