We are attempting to understand how small urban watersheds function under varying conditions by answering research questions regarding vegetation, soils, hydrology, and biogeochemistry.  The goal is to watch how these conditions change over time and, that way, understand the basic behavior of small urban watersheds. The ultimate vision for the YEW is to transform a generally underutilized site into a “living lab” where academic research and teaching is conducted alongside recreational and informal learning opportunities for community members.
