Live Data

The Yale Experimental Watershed (YEW) is located just west of Yale University’s School of Forestry & Environmental Studies in New Haven, CT.  The intensively studied central portion has an area of 5.5 acres and is bordered by buildings along Prospect St. to the east, Sachem St to the south, Mansfield St. to the west, and Hillside Pl. to the north.  The total watershed, which extends beyond these boundaries and contributes groundwater to the inner swale, has an area of 19.2 acres.  Review of old maps of the area show that a small stream has flowed through this site for at least several hundred years.  A series of instruments have been set up in the site to capture data.
